Git'r Done

Greetings and Salutations,
Well, I am finally ready to really dust off my white board (I have one set up in my den in a spot I see every day) and get some stuff done! I really don't have to dust it off. Since I moved in April alot has been accomplished but lately, I've been in a stall pattern. It's time to list things on the board in a way that greatly increases the speed in which they get done. As in git'r done! I have to make my goals SMART.
I'm still a bit overwhelmed with the laundry list of things to do in my journey to make San Francisco my home. Things still don't feel secure and real. Its getting better and of course it hasn't been long since I moved out here. I have well established patience with my personal life is a work in progress at best.
SMART goals (Specific-Measurable-Attainable-Relevant-Time based) really do help if you have never tried them before. For me I think I need to amend this to SMART ASS goals (Specific-Measurable-Attainable-Relevant-Time based-And-Short n' Sweet) LOL.
One of my biggest problems is that I make too many goals. This is just as problematic as not making any at all. Lately this has really caused grid lock with attaining success. It is adding to my overwhelmed state of mind because nothing is getting crossed off the list.
So damnit I'm rolling up my sleeves and digging in. Its time to get a few monkey's off my back. With this in mind and the next two days off here is the game plan:

Tuesday 7/29/2014
(1) SLEEP IN (for the love of all that is sacred I am not getting up before 0900!)
(2)  Have secured parking place in The City by 12pm
(3) Go to paint store and decide once and for all on paint colors for apartment (3) and purchase bedroom color
After/If I do the above then The "B" List
(4) Prime bedroom walls
(5) Laundry

Wednesday 7/30/2014
(1) DMV: obtain California Driver's Licence and register truck and get tags (this has been the entire zoo on my back)
(2) Paint Bedroom
(3) Clean apartment
(4) Call and check on new health insurance to see if I got accepted yet (premium is due 7/31 for current ins)
(5) Move truck to her new home (parking space 3 blocks away)
After/If I do the above The "B" list
(4) any stragglers from Tuesday--if all done- RELAX and be sure to mark it down as a mental personal win for a successful 2 days and less monkeys in my personal zoo!

I think this will be a great start to getting some things off my list (aka my mind) and build some momentum that I have lost along the way. This list has been plaguing me for almost 2 months. I'm sick of the weight on my back. Its time to stop sitting around and get back to the path I was on before I left Charleston.
I want to be on that path again. It was just starting to get good. It was just staring to feel like a life I really wanted. Pottery classes, sewing lessons, jewelry making classes, biking, swimming, and blogging regularly. These are the things I must do to get myself back on track. I just need to break it down in more bite size pieces. Something more than work, sleep, couch, anxiety--repeat.

Are You Going....To...San Francisco....

Greetings and Salutations from the West,
--This isn't my usual format for this blog. It is usually goal/task oriented. I'll get back to that. Today (7/01), this is what came out when I sat down. I made a conscious decision not stifle these thoughts. I have lots goals/tasks to do and funny stories of a life in the day of living in San Francisco. Those are to come. I hope this is a bridge to bring you from where I was to where I am. Oh what a difference 3,000 miles and the second most densely populated major city in the US can make!

Hi. I know I know. I've been a bad girl not blogging but for what it is worth, I have been a busy girl trying to get integrated into my new life and that has taken a hot minute! Writing has been on my mind every day because let me tell you one thing--There are about a million things to blog about out here in the b-e-a-utiful  and crazy city of San Francisco and all that it entails. I keep saying tomorrow, tomorrow. I'll write tomorrow. Again I am reminded that lesson #1-- Start from where you are and work from there.
So I will start from where I am and see what else comes out. I'm in San Francisco. I lived here before, I think 2008 was the last time in the City. I have lots of experience out here. And I say that to say big deal and WOW. How different things look when you are here to live and not just vacation on a travel assignment!
I will be quick to admit that I thought this major move was gonna be a S-N-A-P. What crack was I smoking? (and BTW I don't smoke crack--its whack LOL) But I can also say thank goodness I didn't know how much I would struggle in the beginning because to change my mind, still at this moment not knowing how it will all work out, would be a life experience wasted.
Each day I am feeling better and better. I am slowly creating a life out here for myself. I think this move has brought up alot of grief issues with my mom. I can't tell her about the crazy ass things I see out here. I can't hear her say "Heather get you butt back to Charleston where you belong" LOL and then tell me how much she supports me and my decisions.
Most of all I can't hear her say how proud of me she is and my tenacity to follow my dreams no matter how isolated, scared, and unsure I am. That she loves me and believes in me. Never underestimate the power of those words "I'm proud of you" and tell them to your kids OFTEN. Tell your loved ones and friends. It does amazing things mentally. But especially from a parent. It can't be replaced when lost.
Basically everything I own is still back in Charleston in a POD. I want to get things flowing out here (money) and get rid of some debt before I tackle that part of the journey. And let me tell you this is a journey. I have been happy and excited. I have had Zen moments. I have also cried a ton. I have been depressed enough to not leave my apartment for days. And I have waited patiently (not really but it sounds good LOL) for the tides to change and for me to feel better.
The tides are changing and I feel better. And it is building. Its headed in a great direction as it has been, but I am beginning to trust it. Trust my dreams. Trust in myself on a deeper level. Trust the journey. There are still lots of unknowns, but I am tackling each one to the best of my ability.
About 2 weeks ago I worked myself up into such a lather (not of all my own doing-- I had an outside contribution) I basically white-knuckled it to the point of giving myself the vapors. The next day, when I came to my senses (and sobered up) I heard one word control. and then I understood--let go. I believe that this is the lesson I'm supposed to learn thus far where I am at this stressful and transitional time in my life.
What can I control? Me and my response to the situation at hand. Take the "List" and choose what I can do in THAT moment even if I should be doing something else. Try to my best ability to do what needs to be done, resolve it, and move on. Recognize the victories, not just the failures. Let it happen before I react as if it  (what ever "it" is) has already happened. Most of what we fear may happen doesn't. I know this, buts it difficult to live by every day. And if I can't get it done. If my stress level is too high, wait it out. Be on the look out for the moment the opportunity comes I can get back on track. That moment when I can catch my breath.
And come back it will. Its the best part of life. Wait it out, work hard, show up, and don't give up. It will come around. You just have to be ready, open, and on the lookout for it to happen.

I Love The Craziness Of This Place

Greetings and Salutations,
This is a real ad I came across last night surfing Craig's List out here. Seriously. I nearly peed myself laughing. He is asking $100/month for 10 sq ft! While this is nuts and cakes, it is one of the many things I love about being here. That something this crazy doesn't make me reject the difference between he and I.
We are all different outwardly expressed or not. While I don't get this guy's brain (thank goodness btw), there is enough room for us all on this planet. I can appreciate what I don't understand and it doesn't offend me or make me uncomfortable. Because it doesn't effect me personally.
The biggest take away I get from this is that he has procreated. Someone either lives with this guy or at the very least had sex with him. When I look into the mirror, and think about this ad, questions arise as to why I am still single and he isn't LOL. Have a great day and hope you atleast get a giggle out of this!

For Rent: The space under my sink

I am renting the space underneath my kitchen sink. I will of course empty out the area and have included a photo with my stuff still stored there only to give a better idea of its capacity. It is clean, dark, odor free and relatively dry. I will allow you access to my kitchen M-F from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm PST so that you can get at your storage area without issue. I do ask that you do not store any animal, vegetable, mineral or sprits that are either alive or dead or dying. In addition I also ask that nothing explosive, flammable, caustic, products from protected or endangered species, weapons, Nazi memorabilia or Michael Jackson albums be stores in this area. I will not be held responsible if your storage area is compromised by my toddler or the teenage boy next door looking for old Playboy magazines as it is not a secure cabinet in any true meaning of the word. You may be able to get some sort of rider on your Homeowners insurance or bond to cover your belongings in the unfortunate event of their demise. Also, if my sink breaks and the storage area floods or food debris from my garbage disposal fills it inadvertently, I will contact you immediately so that you can remove all of your material from under my sink. You will of course be responsible for not only cleaning up the area but also for all repairs.

Onto My Next "To Do" List---Employment

Greetings and Salutations,
Well, it has been a week today and I am hard at work trying to get work. I staid out of the car for four days (driving atlease!) The move was well, a move and it is still in motion since I have not landed in my own place. I am grateful that my friend and her family have taken me in until I can get on my feet. (MAJOR understatement)
I didn't get everything done back home before I left like I wanted but in the end, it all worked out. I was damn close and did a great job coordinating all that I did for this move solo. I had some help to tie up the loose ends and some things had to be left behind no matter how painful it was to do it. I was in serious jeopardy of dragging that on way longer than was healthy. It was time to go. Overall I can add several things to the "experience" column in life fosho!
On Tuesday I applied for 2 per diem jobs (no hours promised, first to get called off, and first to go home early) in places I would love to work and would hope to keep even when I get full time at a hospital. I also applied for 2 different hospitals 4 different shifts. Tuesday was a busy application day for sure.
I heard back from the 2 per diem jobs and should know more Monday. It is looking great (spoke on the phone Friday and going for site visit/meet staff Monday) for one and promising for the other (haven't spoken directly with that one yet). Plan to follow up Tuesday with both hospitals. Have another paper application to fill out and send in Monday for another Surgery Center.
I am going to spend the next weeks getting adjusted to the traffic patterns and culture shock that is California even when "your in the know". Things are just "different" out here more so than most places I think. It isn't meant to sound or be negative, but just "different" and if you want to make it successfully out here, adjustment just takes time and you have to open your mind and ride the wave. That takes an extraordinary amount of energy and willingness.
I am here and so very happy to be. I look forward to getting the necessary steps completed to get settled ASAP and it will be a challenge to keep my mind in the here and now. I am anxious to feel "moved in". So far I would give myself a "B". Breathe. Slow and Steady wins the race. This is my mantra for the next 4-6 weeks. Picture a turtle. BE the turtle. That is unless you are driving around here. In that case you wanna be the Hare, because in THAT race, the damn turtle got ran over in the right lane on the 101.

The POD Is Packed And Ready

Greetings and Salutations,
I was one week off from my packing goal. Not too bad I think! Friday I was completely packed except 2 boxes (that I finished today) and a few loose items. I took the weekend off and had some fun. I still have taxes and a few other loose ends to wrap up. And yes-- I still need to wash the damn truck!
Left to clean (other than baseboards and floors): 6 blinds, 6 windows inside/out, 6 windows just outside, and fridge. Fix-it man Tuesday for final repairs etc. Cleaning lady coming Tuesday to discuss future fees. She will complete my team I need to be a landlord. I have a fix-it man, painter, yard maintenance man, property manager, and cleaning person. Sweet.
All the ceilings got painted. They look fantastic. Well worth the expense now. It was the first time in my life I have ever paid someone to paint. Mom and I always did that! I still have to take down the border and paint the dining room. I still feel a mixture of dread and openness to the experience.
There is a Carolina Wren making a nest in the potted ivy on the front porch. It has been fun watching her go back and forth with the building materials. She is diligent and working very hard. I will leave that plant behind so she can have her babies.
I have several bird families that have adopted me and come to my front porch every spring to nest. It can get quit loud out there! They also use the Boston Ferns but I don't have any hanging (yes I am considering buying some LOL). I will miss my little birdies. I sure hope a family (s) of birds finds me to adopt in San Francisco.
Everything I wanted to take fit into the POD like a glove. It was amazing. I am proud of my mad packing skills. 10 years of travel nursing will do that for you I guess. So far the potential casualties are an office chair and the mirror for my dresser. I am thinking I will have room in truck but we will see. It isn't over until it is over LOL.
I am on my final approach for time left in Charleston. I am equal parts happy and sad to leave. I think when I drive out of town I will be tearful. I will deeply miss all of my great friends. I think when I get onto I-10 in Jacksonville, Florida excitement will settle in. California will be straight ahead of me, give or take a few thousand miles :)
It will take me back to 14 years ago in January 2000. Jacksonville was the beginning point of travel for my first assignment in Los Angeles. I find myself this time headed out to make California my new home. Instead of parts unknown, it will be parts well traveled and ready to make a new life for myself.
I (almost) never dream about strangers. When I do I can't see their faces. I usually dream about people I know. Last night I dreamt I was buying a house with my husband/boyfriend. I was excited and happy in the dream that we were deciding on which one to choose and laughing together. Funny, I never saw his face.

Hanging in at 95% Done

Greetings and Salutations,
I have been hanging in at 95% done since Friday and I am OK with that. Didn't loose my sanity after all. Some times I guess it is learning to accept that no matter how hard you try to make things happen in your time frame it isn't always gonna work out that way. I think my expectation of having everything 100% done was unrealistic seeming that I am still 2 weeks away from leaving. Adaptation is a valuable skill to acquire.
Since several ceilings needed repainting (its been 11 years) I thought it best to keep them on the same schedule and repaint them all . Painter starts tomorrow. I have my repair man hard at work on my list of things to get done around the house (install 1 fan, replace 2 others, replace some outlets, address the dryer vent for lint and fire safety, etc). He comes back Friday to finish off list.
Only thing left in the kitchen is last minute stuff and I need to deal with the food. Guest bedroom furniture is going to a new home on Wednesday. Still have a few things to pack up in my bedroom. I still need to decide on rental dwelling insurance.
I am 2 weeks away from bon voyage Charleston! It is getting scary again. It is getting real again. Its funny how you can focus so much on the task at hand (packing) you forget what happens when you are all done (leaving)!
"To Do" List
(1) Taking truck in tomorrow for repairs
(2) Wally World to get few things needed
(3) The dreaded grocery store
(4) Make few calls to help insure informed decision of best rental dwelling policy to chose
I have been working on list of things that need to be done before I can leave (automate some payments, get Murphy's nails clipped, take pictures of house in move out condition, etc). There isn't too much left on the list.
I still have friends to see and some more of Charleston to love and enjoy before I shove off. I'm gonna miss this place, but in my heart I feel one day I will return. For now, it is my season for adventure, finding my destiny, and self discovery of who I am for the second half of my life. I am in love with the possibility of all the possibilities.

Day # 2 Days Left Til I Better Be Done With Moving Process

Greetings and Salutations,
Those of you that know me, know I have the patience of Job. I have to say if I am not done by Friday I am seriously gonna lose what is left of my sanity (don't say it!! LOL). I am O-V-E-R the process but alas, I still have more SHIT to pack. &^%#&*((&^$$*.
OK I think I feel alittle better LOL. I live by "slow and steady wins the race" but damn. Stick a fork in me, I'm just about done. Tuesday I really rocked it. I totally finished the shed! Sorting, throwing away/letting go of, packing and cleaning up took 8 hours with a long lunch break.
Yesterday I could hardly move (thank you Motrin for helping me as much as you did). I had some wicked insomnia and didn't get to sleep until almost 0200. Wednesday started out with packing up next section of boxes (about 10-15) that were ready to go in the POD and it is looking really good. I am soooo close to being done. SO close. I really do think finishing (except last minute stuff) by Friday is a realistic goal (fingers crossed).
Yesterday my prayers and optimism towards the next step of my adventure were answered. I no longer have to worry about plan "B" of a commune to live in--just kidding (sorta) or plan "C" a hotel until I could secure adequate temporary housing.
I have 4 weeks to give me a head start with a friend and her family to find a job and an apartment. After 4 weeks we will reevaluate how it is or isn't working for everyone and how much more time may be needed. Who knows, maybe I will land a job quick-o fast-o and not even make it to the 4 week check in. That would be my vote :)
     The "Done" List
(1) "Lilly pad" to land on arrival in SF (initial housing secured)
(2) Shed 100% done
(3) Bathroom 100% done (did that Wednesday)
(4) Worked on more of the Kitchen
(5) Office 100% done
     The "To Do" List
(1) FINISH by Friday with packing
(2) Finish taxes by next Wednesday
(3) Wash truck (I know I feel the same way. This will NEVER make it off the list LOL)
(4) Take truck in for last of repairs needed
(5) Make "loose ends" list (what can I say--I'm a list girl!)
Hope you are all great and thanks for keeping up with me on this. I truly feel indebted to you all for your interest and support in my adventure. It means more than I can express. Thank you with all my heart.

Moving Day #Ready To Be Done....And Soon!

Greetings and Salutations,
I had company for the weekend and a well needed rest from packing and stress. It was wonderful and I managed to continue to mark things off the list without putting anything in a box. I feel as refreshed and ready as I can be for the home stretch. I am shooting for between this Wednesday and Friday to be DONE. Then I can take the final 2 weeks to apply for some jobs and get out and enjoy Charleston and this beautiful weather.
This is how the "To Do" list has shaped up:
(1) Signed lease with renters until July 31st
(2) Worked out the kinks in the house insurance and have 2 of 3 quotes in and need to decide which one to choose
(3) Made Keys and purchased another fan for a bedroom (renter wanted it and she is willing to share the cost)
(4) Changed oil in truck and got an overall inspection (belts, hoses, brakes etc) and it is good to go. Still have a few things to repair.
(5) Paint for a room
My renter reminded me of something I had over looked. I have Rainbow Row border in my dining room. Mom and I put that up together. It never dawned on me someone wouldn't like it. The girls want it down. The original plan was I buy the paint and the girls do the deed once I am out of the house (remember the curtains).
It took me a hot minute to wrap my head around it, but I have decided it will be therapeutic to take it down myself. I want to take the opportunity to realize life will go on if I see this border come down. This isn't my home anymore. It is an opportunity for me to grow. I plan to take it with a smile on my face even if there are tears in my eyes. I'll keep you posted on the final decision.
Here is the current list until I sit down at the end of the week and think of loose ends:
(1) FINISH PACKING
(2) finish taxes
(3) wash truck
The morning of the 26th of this month my mom had her first stroke. I really miss her. I hope if she really is watching over me she is happy and proud for what I am trying to make happen for myself and my life.

Moving #10 Moving Process

Greetings and Salutations,
Well I have been making steady progress. I have had various helpful hands to get me though different days along the way making this process easier. I am so super grateful for that. This is a lonely and overwhelming process by myself.
It is a journey to learn to be good with where I find myself in the moving process at that moment of anxious awareness. It isn't always where I want to be. Or where I thought I would be. Or working on the tasks in the order I thought I would. I am reminding myself to keep the faith and embrace learning to be in the here and now (and taking LOTS of deep breaths).
Yesterday I took down the curtains in the den and dining room. It really hit home that my house is no longer "my home" and I had to talk myself out of crying. Had no idea it would effect me like that until I looked up when I finished. Isn't it funny curtains were my tipping point? At least I now know the last thing to take down and pack up are the curtains in my bedroom. I won't be able to spend the night in my room after that. Just the thought of it makes me tear up. I really will miss my home.
I am blessed that I have found fantastic renters that have answered my prayers of someone to take care of my house. They really love it and are excited to move in. It is a gross understatement to say I feel relieved.
I have uncovered an unfortunate major road bump with my home owners insurance that I will have to sleep on and do further research to decide how to proceed. I love when the reality of the ways of the world clash with how you thought things work. Its always an interesting lesson when those two lines intersect. I will re-evaluate tomorrow after a few phone calls of fact finding and consultation for advice.
     Completed off list:
(1) Renewed SC nursing licence
(2) Appt made for final house repairs (next Thursday)
(3) Secured AC maintenance schedule (1st one in April)
(4) Took care of banking issues
(5) Printed and organized Continuing Ed certificates (for nursing licence)
(6) Set appt for IRA/Roth updating and rollover paperwork (from old job)
(7) Scheduled POD pickup date (March 31st)
(8) Today I found a great home for my wicker childhood bedroom furniture. Major relief and guilt free
----and of course packing up more "stuff". POD is almost 1/2 way filled.
Here is to tomorrow being another productive day. I struck 8 items off my list of 14 (all the room I had on my dry erase board). More to add to the list but I'm getting there for sure. I think I can, I think I can.

Day #5 Moving Process

Greetings and Salutations,
Interesting week for the first 5 days of moving. Overall I would give myself a C-. This is never gonna end and I am OV-er-WHELM-ed. Dear Lord this was easier when I had my mom to help me. I take alot of deep breaths and keep putting one box on top of another. I will get there. I am also banking on momentum. I have been setting alarm for past 2 days but I have to admit I am a queen at hitting the snooze button. Need to improve on that one. Today I did acupuncture. It was wonderful as usual. Plan to do that weekly until I leave.
It is still under consideration to take a match to it all (JK...I think). I hope it all fits is all I have to say. I look forward to the point I reach when I can actually see it will (all fit) and I can stop being so anxious about it. This is what I have accomplished in the past 2 days. It doesn't look like much but oh well. What can I say.
     (1) Cleaned out truck (ready for bike now--I haven't gone biking yet)
     (2) Have all but finished back bedroom. Will be able to complete it tomorrow
     (3) Made great dent in guest bedroom (I'd say more than or at half way)
     (4) Just about packed out first quarter of POD

Plans for tomorrow/Sunday
     (1) Work on Shed (Dear Lord the things that are left out there)
     (2) Finish back bedroom
     (3) Bike that 5 miles I have been intending to do all week but haven't
     (4) Work on Lifecheerleader blog
     (5) Work on taxes again
Beyond this I have no idea. Trying to keep anxiety in check. Trying to take it all in stride. I Plan to get a good night's rest so I can start the day on the best foot possible. Off to bury myself in another episode of Dexter. Totally love that show! Hope you are all well.

Tootles :)

Day #3 Moving Process

Greetings and Salutations
Well I told my friend that I met out for happy hour drinks that I was gonna blame her for not getting any thing done for the entire day. Then I realize that I am obligated to thank her for getting me out of my nightgown at 6 pm. Damnit. LOL. I did get a few things done. Dexter on Netflix. Sleeping in. A great breakfast I cooked for myself. Oh....I guess I am supposed to be doing the real things to get ready to get out of here. Here is how my day shaped up.
     (1) Started Turbo Tax process and worked on it for while. Got further than I thought I was (original plan was to download it and move on)
     (2) Made 3 month goals and emailed them to my friend
     (3) Cleaned den floor
     (4) Posting about housing needs
     (5) Ummmm....I think that about wraps up my day. Can I include happy hour here? :)

Plan for tomorrow--
     (1) SET ALARM  :)
     (2) Clean truck out/wash (if not raining)
     (3) Clean what I have been staring at for weeks
     (4) Renew Licence
     (5) Goal by Friday: have back room entirely packed out and boxes in POD
     (6) Bike 5 miles ( have to start ALL OVER DAMNIT..oh well...)

Thanks to anyone that is subjecting themselves to this writing. It really is helping me get stuff done. Dear Lord, if I had no sense of having to do even half of what I say I will I'd still be on the couch...which is where I am headed now..more Dexter...Season 3 ya know :)

Day #2 Moving Process

Greetings and Salutations,
Funny thing happened yesterday. I got more done off "the next list" to go up rather then the one I was focusing on. But that is OK. Sometimes you just have to roll with the direction the wind is blowing you. I feel such a sense of calm. Relaxation. I have been playing this song for months Place In This World by Michael W Smith. I know I know 1990-- but the words really hit home with me and how I feel. Anyway here is how my "things to do" list shaped up yesterday:
     (1) Den done except the floors
     (2) I have renters until August and if it lines up with another person's needs, replacement renters in Sept (HUGE accomplishment and quite honestly unexpected how I found them)
     (3) I have someone that has wonderfully offered to be my local property manager so I can rent it myself (met and discussed details)
     (4) Paid my health insurance for March
     (5) Made big dent in dining room that for all intents is my office (cleaning)
     (6) Loaded more boxes in POD
     (7) Packed up all pictures in den
     (8) Cleaned out cab of truck. Still have the bed to go and washing it
In bed by 10 pm (read great book for an hour) and I feel alittle more rested today. I feel like yesterday was success. I'm grateful I don't feel the pressure (from myself) to go any faster at this point than I am. It feels tremendous to take a break and just breathe.
I watched this movie on Netflix Blackfish (2013). Seriously watch it. It will challenge the way you see SeaWorld. It is a stark reminder that as a species we do amazing things in the name of the almighty dollar. Including the lies we will buy in order to be consumers.
Today is working off same list from yesterday. I'm not sure how far I'll get but I am seriously considering setting my alarm in the morning so I can get an earlier, more serious start :) hummm maybe. But you sure can' beat sleeping in. Think I'll pace myself. Few more days of moving slow before I turn on the afterburners.

Tootles :)

Day #1 Moving Process

Greetings and Salutations,
I'm Back from Mars. My butt hurts. Just kidding. Things, to say the very least, have been crazy in my life. I'll catch you up as we go along, but I am in the process of packing up, saying goodbye to Charleston and my friends, and moving out to San Francisco California. There have been so many MANY things going on since I last blogged. I plan to use this platform again as I have in the past, as a chronicle to the pathway I am currently on. My journey in life.
Before it was exercising and getting moving. While that has temporarily (as in many months) fallen to the way side, it will be in the forefront again ASAP. I plan to get back on my bike and into the pool again as I go through the moving process. Once I get moved I will get back to it again ASAP. While I have been derailed from the great path I was on, I haven't lost sight of my goals. Fitness will be mine. I'm just gonna have to be patient.
I know some of you who read this blog also follow me on Lifecheerleader, so the story telling will be a bit redundant, but there are people here who don't follow the other blog and if I don't give some background information it won't make sense as to why I am doing what I am doing when before it was all about being physical.
I'll keep the chit-chat story telling brief and to the point. This blog is more about putting rubber to the road and that is why I have two blogs. They give me an outlet for both the cerebral/thoughtful and task oriented sides of my brain.
I have given up my job (last day was Friday) and today is Day #1 in my book of the clock ticking and needing to get things in order to leave and dive into the next chapter in my life. I will get a job once I am in San Francisco. Now is about packing up and having closure to my life in Charleston. It as if  "Charleston" is a lover and I need time to say good bye. Does that sound hokey?
People keep asking when am I gonna leave. I'm not really sure. I mean I am sure it will be the Month of March. But I just don't know what day. The current plan is to listen out for my inner voice. It will tell me when I've seen all I need to see (including friends), do all I need to do, and feel ready.
I have had a situation "fall" into my lap after putting it out in the world about renting my house and I am currently working out those details. It connects with an earlier possibility and it will be interesting to see how it all works out in the end.
I may additionally have the option to not have to hire a management company for the rental of my house at least in the beginning. Not that I don't see the efficacy of that as much as it just might not be needed until it is needed ya know? We shall see. Anyway-- enough chit-chat. More later.
Onto what is in the Que for tasks to be done Feb 24th and 25th:
(1) Clean kitchen, den, and dining room. (disgustingly dirty..ewwww)
(2) Clean out and wash my truck
(3) Start the Turbo Tax process (taxes make me swimmy headed. I say "start" so I actually will)
(4) Renew South Carolina Nursing Licence
(5) Make personal goals for next 3 months and email them to my goal partner (way behind on this task)
(6) Go to the grocery store ( I detest grocery shopping, but I have to buckle down and use my rubles wisely)
So I need to get out of here and get onto the list! I will keep you up on the process (hopefully daily) and how I am doing. As I did when I was headed out to the pool or the road to bike, it helps to feel a sense of accountability. It greatly increases your success at achieving the goals you set. I need to feel accountable to someone so I will keep myself on track. Hope you don't mind if I take the chance and bore you for awhile. I promise when I get out to San Francisco the stories will get interesting. In that town, are you kidding??

Sewing 101 Project

Greetings and Salutations,
Well, I have totally lost my inspiration this is true. I have been cooking lunches and dinners and staying as organized as possible. Haven't been biking (except Saturdays with small group) or swimming. I just can't seem to get out of bed at all until the last minute. Its driving me crazy but obviously not enough to actually change my behavior yet! Damnit!!
I did a Sewing 101 class last week and wanted to share the pictures of what we made. It was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to learning how to sew with more lessons. It is a sewing kit. Not sure what gets made in Sewing 102 but I will find out ( pillow cases I think). I also did class #3 of 6 in pottery. Last night we made a vase. I needed help of course but I really loved the way it turned out!
I hope you are doing something productive and send me some inspiration for crying out loud. I need some terribly!! Cheers!

Sunday Off On The Organized Foot

Greetings and Salutations,
I am ready for the work week damnit. LOL. I have to put Chicken Tetrazzini in the oven. I have salads ready for the week. I have coffee ready to be popped into the maker for the week. I have clean uniforms (still need to iron them). I did Second Sunday on King Street for several hours today and loved it as usual.  http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/charleston/second-sundays-on-king-street/Event?oid=2342609 What a great relaxing time I had! Lots of people watching and enjoying what my city has to offer. The house is fairly clean and I can live with it. Would like to have it cleaner, but the again I would love to be on holiday in Bora Bora and that isn't gonna happen either. Just Sayin'.
The pool is closed tomorrow so the plan is bed by 2130-2200. Hampton Park for 10 miles at 0700. I plan to juice before the ride. Then a great breakfast, shower, and possibly even dare I say the "M" word? (makeup) LOL. I did acupuncture today and I am feeling alot more centered and hope that builds by tomorrow and lasts the week. One can hope.
The holiday season challenge is upon me and I can feel it. I can feel it starting to push down on me and I will push back with all I have. I will battle through this first holiday season without my mom and will do the very best I can. I'll set myself up for as much success as possible. Organization, yoga, acupuncture and prayer will be amongst my arsenal. I always feel better when I am organized. I also feel better when I workout. This Sunday is marked down as a success. I will take each day as it comes.
I want to leave you with a card someone gave me after my mother died and I will use these words as strength to draw from in the coming days that will no doubt test my endurance and ability to cope with profound loss and sadness in a season that both she and I cherish:
"I was lucky enough to meet your mother once but I didn't get to know her. But I am fortunate to know you. A parent's desire is that they leave a legacy for the world to see that they actually existed. That they were able to make a noticeable ripple in this world. Your mother's legacy is YOU. Your kindness, your tireless effort to see fairness and justice for others, who doesn't let mistakes define her, whose hands have created beauty from petals and seeds, who has the patience of Job, and who enjoys classics and love stories. You are the window into the woman your mother was. You represent her life and memory well. Her ripple will be felt with every step you make across the planet and with every word you speak. You carry her legacy on."

OK So Its Two Weeks Laying Low

Greetings and Salutations,
Well Hell's Bells. I have totally lost inspiration, perspiration, and motivation for a second week in a row. I did bike this past Saturday but that is all I had in me. It will all come back and I will be waiting on it. In the mean time I really feel rotten I haven't done anything. Oh well, some times your the windshield and some times your the bug. Hope to reset this weekend. I think its one of the things I dislike most about working Monday through Friday, I atleast not sure about others, feel I can only reset over the weekend, never mid week. Its most annoying.
On a lighter note, I did my first of a 6 week pottery class where I made a bowl. It is way more difficult than I even suspected and I wasn't thinking it was gonna be easy. 4 other people in class. 3 were looking like pros out of the gate. One chick was struggling about as much as I was. I'm on the short bus and need to stop looking at everyone else's work. I plan to be the late bloomer of the class :)  Its alot of fun though! I look forward to the next one. And Sewing 101 is up in the que later this month!
The plan is to take motivation hostage this weekend and keep'em all next week. How dare that bastard leave me for 2 whole weeks! LOL I guess its the way life goes right? The trick is to not abandon your goals when you lose your way. Cheers!

This Week Laying Low

Greetings and Salutations,
This week I am lying low on the bike rides waiting on the time change so I will have enough light to get my miles in like I want. I have had alot on my mind and will share those thoughts in the coming blogs. I plan to get to the pool tomorrow and Friday. I hope you are all well and taking care of yourselves. I am trying to give myself permission to relax which is a difficult lesson for me to learn. Most of the time I am too goal oriented for my own good. Tonight looks like a Netflix night! Cheers!

I Did It I Did It!!

Greetings and Salutations,
I did it! All 5 days I exercised! It was soooo hard to get out of bed this morning and get to the pool but I am super happy I did. I feel sooo much better for having kept the momentum going and accomplishing my goal. I have been after that goal for 3 solid months. I plan to do the same thing next week. I am still having trouble getting up as early as I need but I will continue to work on that. I think the time change will help me on biking days. Swim days are much easier since I'm not dependent on the sunlight to have access to the pool. Next week earlier to the park and 10 miles each biking time is the goal. This weekend I am going to get a blinky back reflector and that will make me more comfortable on the road.
I am going to the Farmer's Market tomorrow and looking forward to getting fruits and veggies to juice with. The juice I made this morning really rocked! Looking forward to experimenting with all the combinations out there. Silly I know, but I have always wanted to buy from a Farmer's Market but never really have because I would not eat what I bought. Now I have a sure way to get it into my belly (Austin Powers accent).
I have alot I want to accomplish for the weekend. I will go to bed early tonight so I can start the day with a 10 miles bike ride with the group from the bike shop, then go to the market with a friend. That should get my day started great! I hope you have a terrific weekend  and hope for anyone that is thinking about a goal to work towards, think about starting it next week. Even thinking about it seriously counts as work in my book. A goal has to start somewhere. Your mind is a great place to start. Make it happen! Cheers!

Almost To My Goal

Greetings and Salutations,
I made it 4 days this week! I can't believe it! I am one day away from my week's goal! I biked this morning for 5 miles. I HAVE to get out there and ready by 0700 so I have time to get 10 miles in and get home in time to get ready for work. No make up this morning but that is OK. I published my Life Cheerleader blog tonight so I got that done and I need to email a few people. I worked on my 4th quarter goals and should have those ready to go by tomorrow as well. I still need to cook and I hope to accomplish that tomorrow after swimming.
I juiced tonight for the first time in my life! I made the Mean Green Juice (cucumber, apples, celery, lemon, and kale) and actually it was amazingly pretty good! I was truly surprised. Clean up was a snap as well. I plan to have spicy carrot juice tomorrow with breakfast. I seriously look forward to changing my eating habits and getting better nutrition with my juicer. I think its gonna be yet another positive layer in my life and support me in a great direction. I just drank more veggies in that 16oz' than I have had in 3 months!
Please send me karma and prayers that I will get my butt out of bed tomorrow after a long work week. I have to say reflecting over my past 4 days I feel sooo much better today that I did last week. And I can also see I am on the right path working out the way I am. I am continuing to lose weight and feel physically and mentally better. I still have alot of changes before me but I am willing, open, and determined to make it happen slowly so permanent change will set in.
Knowing I have had to report my activity has helped me get up this week and I am grateful for those of you that have been following my efforts. I hope you are thinking about making some of your own changes if you are in need of some. Remember slow and steady wins the race. Cheers!

Two-fer Report

Greetings and Salutations,
Well, my week is well underway and I have actually managed to workout 3 mornings in a row. I have to totally admit it was touch and go and I have to keep fingers and toes crossed for myself for the next 2 days. Yesterday I was missing an hour from my sleep so I got out of bed one hour later than I intended. However, I continued to move forward. I biked 5 miles and ran out of time to get ready for work (ie makeup) or work on my Life Cheerleader blog.
I am learning it isn't about what you don't get done. It is about making a small manageable list and working with the flow of life. It is about continuing to move forward and picking up the pieces you missed as you go. It is easy to loose interest or momentum when you miss a few things on your list but moving forward is essential to overall success.
For example, my intent was to do yoga and blog Tuesday morning. I ran out of time because making up the hour of sleep I lost and biking was more important that yoga or blogging. So when I got home before I went to bed, I took 30 minutes to work on my blog and did 20 minutes of yoga and 10 minutes of meditation. It felt good I could still mark those things off my list for the day.
Structure is key. Set a time frame and move on to the next thing when the time you have allotted for that particular task or event has expired. You will catch what you missed with the next batch of things. Maybe you finish a task early and can work on something that fell to the wayside previously.
This morning I was tardy getting out of bed again but stuck with it. I swam 20 minutes and had enough time to get purdy for work with makeup. My co-workers about died to see makeup on me twice in one week. I think they think I have lost my mind. I didn't blog (this morning) but here I am now getting caught up. Have to do a few more things tomorrow to be back on task but over all I am stoked I exercised 3 days in a row. 3 times in a week has been easier to accomplish than 3 in a row.
Tomorrow is biking and the goal is back to 10 miles. Cooking because I never cooked the other meals for dinner, and have to e-mail my personal goals for the last quarter of the year to a partner in crime. Hope you week is rocking and hope any goal you set for yourself is coming along nicely! Cheers!
